Sarah is a brave young girl. Living in a small village in Belgium she decided to buy a field and a cart horse to start farming organic vegetables and sell the vegetables in the area. Her project started at the end of last year when she bought a two year old mare and a field. As she doesn’t know much about cart horses and Petula (the mare) needs to be trained, she sent Petula to a horse-trainer and Sarah comes once a week to learn how to handle the horse and make Petula used to pull different kinds of tools. That’s where I met Sarah & Petula for the first time.
Sarah needs to learn the basics on how to strap the horse. And Marc, the groom, is a good teacher. He’s currenlty hosting five horses and he spends many hours every week to train each one individually.
Write your story here. (Optional)
Two young ladies ready to learn their new job.
Those guys are waiting for their turn
Sometimes Petula sets off in the wrong direction or just starts pulling more than expected. But Sarah is very patient and always overcomes Petula’s temper.
It’s never the wrong time to stop for a break and enjoy the moment.
Sometimes Marc loses control of the horses he‘s training and this is what happens. So the others just stop and wait until the wild horse is taken back in hand.
Then Sarah and Petula keep walking while the others are watching the show.
Now it’s time to use a real tool and train Petula to walk in line and to do U-turns.
Both Sarah and Petula are fast learners and their progress are obvious.
And that’s already the end of this day of work for Sarah and Petula. I’ll meet those two yound ladies again very soon.
